I got here first! Let's start with the lyrics. Great!! And the vocal delivery captures the "constriction" that's going on in the song. I'm loving the underlying snake charmer sound in the music and the fact that it carries right into the solo is very cool! The music sets the perfect sort of sidewinding groove. Really nicely done! Spike, that vocal screech on "slithering snake" is really good. Also, you hit some nice control in the quieter moments that give the song nice layers of vocal sound that match the musical layers really well. Good job!

You are getting quite wicked. Must be that evil influence of Bluenevus. But... it is really good, too. So whatever it is, go with it, ride the wave. I'm really digging your beatz, dude! Oh, I don't believe I said that, and I know I just know I'll be tomorrow, but then... it is truly wicked

I really dig the intro, it's like a unique little package, with a nice ambience. Even if the production isn't stand-out, I like how it all sounds together.
What strikes me about the song though is that it lacks development, as we get past the intro into the verses.
The song does move through a number of different parts, but here is how I see the song: the approach right from from the get-go is very melodic. There are the arpeggios, the countermelodic vocals and the groove behind it. Sometimes songs can have slowly developing melodies while the actual melody lines aren't exaclty changing drastically. The effect of this (if it's pulled off well) is that the foundation of the song doesn't really change but it's still dynamic.
This song is different, to me. There is an immediate assualt of melodies, and that calls for its own kind of treatment to make it dynamic. I think you need to create more, different melodic passages (like bridges, more defined choruses and so on) to get this song moving. This might sound like I'm calling for something "conventional", like a "verse, chorus, verse, chorus, coda" structure, but I'm not. My opinion is just that if you put the melodies in front, emphazise them instantly, then they are the ones who are gonna row the boat, hehe. To me, it's not enough to just drop some of the instruments and let them return later, in this case. The melodies themselves need to develop more clearly, and even though removing them does create an "effect", the song is still not mobile enough. If you still don't want to create more defined melodic parts then you should make for instance the vocal lines much more varied when the other instruments drop out. I know you do vary the melodies, but I just don't feel this is really 'happening'. That trick I mentioned before can be very very effective, but it's all about the context.
Take a genre that seems to stand still forever through a song: funk. This is not true when you listen closer to a great piece of funk though. Even though a song can move through 2 chords, there is enough of the instruments developing their playing off "against each other", and enough clearly marked dynamic points to make it really grove.
I think I see where you're going, but I think you need to work on making the surprises even more striking. Maybe letting the bass be more mobile as well (to connect with the funk analogy)
Kewl, as Mr Hilbert would have said.

Layers and layers and layers and layers...this is a very dense piece, I like how many times the same idea comes up in a different voice, maybe phrased slightly different, whether it be an arpeggioed guitar, a chimey rhythmic part, a tremelo, or a slithery synth, just a ton of stuff to absorb and observe. I agree with Gene(both of 'em ) Vocals are distinctively EvansOrchidian, but I think this the best mix of them in one song I've heard thus far. They are very front and center, yet still odd and foreboding. Great job kids.

Oh yes...awesome intro, love the way it builds. Lyrics are tops and the way the music weaves and bends, the changes and the blend of sounds makes for a unique sound and journey for the soul. This track creates such a great mood. I've said it before...you have a kind of magic in your music - amazing stuff!

Awesome production, has a big budget gloss about the audio mix. Vocals are tight and with just the right amount of verb and compression. Great blend of synth and guitar tones. Nice drums, great use of toms and fills, kick drum could use a slight boost, snare sounds very clear and snappy !
Would like the bass to be +2 db or so higher in the mix. Great ending too. High expectations expected and surpassed from 2 of Dmusic's finest composers and musicians

For anyone curious...I did the music using about 50% sample arrangement. You know...the sample CD you can buy anywhere...finding a section cutting them up and re-arranging them. I know, I know but I suck at playing the guitar so, I cheated a bit. The the other 50% is FL Studio...thats right FL Studio and a cheap yamaha motif keyboard its all I can afford Rolling On Floor Laughing!

.....dude, I use those samples all the time. I actually used that guitar clip and reconized it the moment I heard it. The "art" is using them in a way that's hard to tell that they are samples....and you've done an excellent job here.

The guitar interplay throughout this is really entrancing. Especially the intro. It's a bit like some King Crimson or something.
The vocals are good eats. Sounds like you had your neck all tense and sticking out like a turtle.
Good tune. Sounds like it was fun.

Lyrics are very cool. I like the way the vocals interprete the lyrics, very snaky The vocals are definately wicked
Music wise, this is very cool I'm liking this melody played by the guitar and that solo kicks in at the right place and is having a good impact I'm liking the riddles of melodies, makes one focus on everything that is going on Musically this is a very good track, good percussion, but as I said it already twice, those melodies are really doing tha shizza Great collab here !

Orchid’s vocals get better everytime I listen. Demonstrates Blue Nevus’s flexibility as this is more of a rock thing than a electronic piece. Great rhythm track, great dynamics. I like Evan’s sound as it’s unique and this time nicely complimented by Blue Nevus. Filed under great DMusic collabs.
